Its thursday and my head is pounding. I really hate headaches. I seem to be very sensitive to caffeine withdrawl and not eating at schedualed times. If eithor one goes out of wack its pain, pain until I pass out.

Not much good to share. Had a doc appt this am so I got in real late and will probably be stuck here real late because of it.

I watched "Identity" last night. It was good except for the predictable end. As soon as they showed you that it was all in some guys head all the spurises were gone.

I saw "Colleteral" Two nights ago. MAn what a waste of time. It has a very slow start. Jamie foxx driving his cab. Then there is the ever so predictable female character who shows up and he wns her over with his good cab ethics. You just know she will eithor be some sort of hostage or Jamie's life line. Then Tom Cruise gets in the cab and we drive around and kill people. It is slow but at least he's a fairly bad ass assassin. Then we find out his last target is little miss cab ride and its up to Jamie to save her. Here is where a decent film goes bad. Mr B.A. assassin gets into a shoot out with Cab driver johny and who comes out on top???
Thats right, they guy who couldn't even work the safety on the gun a scene or so earlier. It just totally pissed me off.

Oh one last review, "Secret Window" This film was a nice suprise. The plot twist was fairly unexpected for me and the ending even more so. I should learn to trust in the Depp. He dosen't tend to make bad films and for what seemed like it was going to be for quite a while it worked well. I have more to say, but this is one I don't want to spoil the ending on.

not too much going on yet. The new lab is about the same. Today I made spreading sticks out of pasteur pipets, lordy its mideivl times here. For those of you who don't know usualy sreading is done with a bent solid glass rod commonly refered to as a hockey stick. These sticks go for probably 15-20$ and are good until you break them. The pipetts are probably like 20-40$ for a box of a few hunderd. I have no idea why we're making our own.

I am getting some work done on a D&D game I have been thinking about. After the last two books I bought I'm quite fed up with Wizards of the Coast. They just seem to be in it for the profit now and are pumping out crap. Now I'm not saying I'm against capitalism, quite the opposite, but I feel like compagnies should at least attempt to put out decent products. "Champions of Ruin" a book on how to run an evil campaign was just totally crap. First off it was super short, maybe 150 pages. Most of those pagest were reused content.
So it consisted of
3 new races, only 2 of which are really new races as the third is a moster race with an ECL10 tagged on it, meaning you need to be a 10th level char to really play it.
The other two are only semi usefull races with no non-RP reason to play them.
Then there are a few prestige classes, again most of which recycled and those that weren'tseemed kind of lame
Some lame spells, almost all of which were domain specific spells for clerics, so almost no one can use them. There were some bard spells too, ugh.
Then a few quick bits on evil organizations and finally a bunch of evil overlords, which many had CR's tagged on them that were above 20, yet stats that I have a feeling a decent group of 8th lv characters could take. Pure crap.

I also picked up Races of Ebberon, which was the most dissapointing Races of....book yet. I didn't find a single usefull thing in it andmost of it was crap fluff, not even good fluff but stuff you could have picked up readng the monster descriptions in the MM3.

Ugh just very annoyed over the whole thing. Maybe I should try to go exchange it.

Oh well back to lab.

Monday, June 27, 2005

well here I am back at school and off of my vacation. Let me just say how much it is sucking so far. I'm in a new lab, which isn't so bad work wise, but all of their stuff is real old. With some of the other labs I wasn't too sure but with this one I am. I have better equipment in my attic than what they are using. Ugh.

Also there is no net connection in the lab from what I have seen which means I may have to give up a lot of my net activities, which also sucks. I had to come to the library to write this post. It may just be that the wireless net work here isn't working because I couldn't even get a sgnal in the lib, where I though it was supposed to be strongest. Well I have a lot more to say but I hate this key board, which is squeeking with every key I press, so I'll have to wait and see if I have time later.

Wow its been quite some time since my last post. This week off is going fairly well. I'm geting some stuff around the house done and just getting rested up in general.

Last night I droped into target and made a bulk purchase. First off I finally picked up Jess's house warming gift. Yeah I know its late, but yoyu should have expected that. Second I procured for my self, the scourge of JFK, the magic bullet. LEt me tell you it is awesome. It slices and dices and makes perfectly blended milk shakes in about 7 seconds. When I saw the Telemercial I didn't beleive it. How could any product be so wonderful? How could any blander dice up full ice cubes in just seconds and not cost 200$ or more? I own a kitchen aid blender and it can't do that.
So we get it and take the MB home. The book instructions are almost idiot proof. Put stuff in cup, screw on blades, push down on machine, blend until disired smoothness. Now for people who like nonuniform drinks or having big annoying chunks of ice or whole peices of fruit floating in it, this may not be the contraption for you. But if you're into frozen drinks, and...well I haven't used it for anything else yet. So you will have to wait until I do to get a review on that.

Well its done and it seemed to go well. I was told that it was the best I had done it and I would have to agree. I was also told I looked like I knew what I was talking about. On this point, well who knows. I'm just glad its done. Now I'm going to take a few days off before starting the next rotation. It will give me some time to relax, do somepainting and work up one hell of a D&D adventure for next week to make up for the last few not so engaging adventures.

Wel here we are, the day of my presentation in T-1hour. I'm not completly freaking yet, but its still not as smooth as I would like. I don't know what it is but I seem to be getting worse and worse the more I present. I almost get panic attacks now, I just don't get it.
Well I'll let you know how it went in a little over an hour.

Monday, June 13, 2005

I haven't had much of a chance to write these last few days. I came in to worm both saturday and sunday. Did a full day sat and a little over half sun. What a sucky weekend. My friends all went camping and played frizbee golf. Ugh, I hate grad school some times.

Friday's D&D game was slow. Everyone there seemed somewhat tired, me perhapse most of all. I hate going in to games all worn out. I just don't have the energy to keep things rolling and make al the NPCs come to life at all.

I did get an idea of a campaign of evil characters to run, which should be interesting. We'll have to see what the group wants to do when this campaign wraps up.

Two days until my presentation and I'm actually a good way through it this time:)

Thats about it for now, back to work.

I just barly got up this morning. These lesser sleep nights start to catch up to me after a while. I was having some really odd dream too. It must have been a heavily ADD moment because it seemed to be a lot of randon stuff. From what I can remember:
-My parents were going to buy a new house but one to rent out or to hold for later sales.
-they liked on house, but were actually going to purchase a diferent one, which had been previously owned by George W. Bush, because they thought this would make it worth more
-My friend Ian was having a party, I was there for a bit then went home with BZ to get a little buzy
-Everyone from the party burst in on us just before we could get started
-We all went outside and the house wasn't my house or ian's house. It was some icky white duplex in a heavily residential neighbor hood.
-Then we went behind the house and found some kid lying in a small hole with a sharpened tree branch sticking through his neck.
-He was still alive and when we called to him he kind of got up and the pulled the branck out of his neck. We were yeling for him not to do that. It started to bleed a lot.
-Someone put a hand over it to stop the bleeding, which was comming out both sides. I remember yelling for someone to call 911
-In all of this there was something about me writing too, but I don't remember what just yet.

The whole thing was verry odd.

We had game last night. It went alright team BS didn't bug me as much as usual. Probably because I realized what a powerhouse I am in this game. let me break it down. We have:
-a halfling fighter: he has little strength and uses 1 handed weapons, doing 1d4+1 damage
-halfling rogue: about the same damage but +3d6 when flanking so decent offense
-a cleric who can't seem to do anything and runs out of spells almost as soon as she begins casting them.
-a ninja- probably one of the only decent other characters
- a monk - who has a problem hitting anything (but I think its more of a dice issue)[change those out J :) ]
- a half demon sorcress - decent damage output, but no big spells yet
- warforged wizard - I cast most spells of auto hit at 5d6, 5d8, or 4d6 (when I run out of big ones)
I feel like I do almost all of the killing. Our fighters suck. Our cleric sucks. And no one seems to have many hit points. As a wizard (lowest hit point die in game) I have the second highest amount of hit points just behind the cleric. Its insane.
I do know this. I could probably never DM to this group. I'd lose half the party every night because they don't know how to make up characters. It really urks me as you can see.

Well I should get some stuff done. I have a lot to do today and will probably be in tomorow and maybe sunday. Ack.

Oh we have game tonight which I hope will go well. I have to plan up a side adventure to try to keep my party alive. Hehehe I'm not sure what it is about D&D parties they just seem to dive into perilous danger time and time again and its up to the DM to see to it that they don't all perish.

Thursday, June 09, 2005

My presentation yesterday sucked as I expected. I did get a lot of helpful hints so I can do better for real next wensday.
I have game tonight. I'm not that excited about going. The GM runs a decent game, but some of the players there really annoy me. As much as I would hate to do it, I may just end up dropping this game entirly. When its more aggravation than fun its time to go.

Not too much else going on..I did get in my big box of scenery for game, but I don't think I'll have time to get any of it ready for this week.

Wednesday, June 08, 2005

Wensday, I have a trial run for my rotation talk today. Which wouldn't be so bad if it was done. So here we are again. Last couple of hours as I scramble to get things ready, ugh.

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

Monday, lovely monday, well its not really but it fells like it is.
I guess I'll give out the lowdown.
Friday BZ and I picked up and flew out to the wonderfulness of Minnesota for a down home style wedding. 3 hours of fun on the plane, then over an hour car ride and we arrived. We chatted it up with her family some and I got the tour of her house. We hit the sack some time around midnight or later. (sounds exciting eh?)
We got up, dressed, showered, and hit the road. 3 hours later (possibly more) we arrived at the church. [author's note: I despise churches. It seems like every wedding I go to I tell myself this will be the last. I don't need to sit around and listen to some leach yap about how everything is only possible with the love of god.] At least the ceremony went fairly quickly maybe an hour total. The bride cried through almost the whole thing which was kind of sweet. After the Wedding it was back in the car for about 30 minuites to get to the reception.
The reception was in a very small room with too many tables in it at the american legion, which I'm guessing is sort of like a VFW or something. Apetitsers and deserts were served. Beer was free everything else was pay. Mixed drinks were made wrong and portions were small. I mean come on. How hard is it to make a midori sour. The name says it all Midori, sour = midori and sour mix, not spirte as was the drink I recieved. Not too much else to say about the reception.

BZ's friends were fun, funny, and nice. It is too bad none of them live anywhere near us.

So wedding is over, we go back to the hotel. I order a mizza and am first told that they don't deliver, which is crappy because the pizza place in downstairs in the hotel and second I am over charged for the pie as their fliers in the hotel aren't current. Third the pizza is ass. It was in all rights a freezer pizza and I have actually had better freezer pizza.

So we have reached sunday. We pile back into the car and drive for over 3 hours back to BZ's home, with a short stop off for some shopping (best part of the trip, besides meeting the friends). I got to check out a ShopKo for the first time. Its like a walmart, but cheaper, which was cool. We finally make it back to the house and I am riddled with nausea, due to too much car time mixed with eatnig chips and drinking soda for almost the whole car time. I pass out till about 8pm then get up chat for a bit and go back to bed.

Up early the next day, breakfast of steak and eggs (bad idea) and back on the road. Over an hour back to the airport with a stop off to see one of BZ's friends homes and child (which was nice). Then its another 3 hours in the air to get back to CT and over an hour driving to get home.

So my nice extended weekend boils down to a lot of time sitting in one sort of vechicle or another.

At least my reagents didn't come in so I didn't miss much of anything here. Ugh.

Thursday, June 02, 2005

Less up today, whatever I said yesterday about getting a good nights rest was bogus. I think it just might be that I get good sleep when,
A. I need it
B. I am undisturbed

Last night was one without disturbance, but I wasn't all that tired so I ended up tossing and turning in bed with the damn Dukes of Hazard theme sone running through my head.
I did get three figures painted but I don't know if they are up to my usual standards.

Not too much else going on. Didn't get to go disc golf last night as the lab girls punked out and I was too broke to go alone.

I'm off for Minnesota in two days for a wedding. It should sort of fel like a vacation, but instead it feels like time which could be better spent. Oh well, I can work on my presentation while I'm there in between this and that or maybe just on the plane.

Wednesday, June 01, 2005

I'm up, caffiene running through my veins, awake and ready to tackle the day. I had some cool dreams this morning about being a spy or something like that and I think Natlie Portman was there, but I don't remember too clearly.

Outside it looks like rain. I was going to hit it out today after work for a little disc golf with the tech girls, but weather looks like it might put a stop on those plans.

Not too much else to say. I started painting again last night. Painting is always difficult in the beginning. It feels like I forget everything I used to know about it and the first fer figures come out like crap. I also spent some time reading through the PH (players handbook). I've never run a really high level character and never a cleric or mage before, so I wanted to brush up on some of the spells. I realize I've been setting up most of my battels all wrong. There are a lot of awesome weakening spells, most of which have no save. I think I'm usually too focused on just doing damage, but this way I can knock opponants down to a managable level before having to engage them. There were other interesting suprises as well, but I won't give any of those away:)
